Plan was to go up early Friday and hunt two full days and leave Monday. I was met with much deeper snow than I expected. Could not make it into my cabin. Packed my hot tent as a backup and setup down the road at a new location. Checked the weather and saw another 10 inches were coming in Saturday night so I had to pull the plug sadly. Did not want to risk getting stuck by myself. Still had fun camping and hunted 3/4 of Saturday. Cut quite a few doe tracks but with so much it was tough to decipher any buck tracks. Did track a doe and watched her make a bed which was fun. Always a challenge up there…

Every expedition has its merits and memories. I have been going up to Maine for many years. But the past 12 years I have been going to the same camp. And there have been a few years where things did not go according to plan. One year a tree fell on my truck while I was driving 50MPH. Last year I injured my foot and had to call it quits after just three days.

But the important thing is that you went and made the best of it. Just getting away and getting out into the wilderness is all we ever ask for.

How do you like it? I’ve had my eye on that one.

I like it a lot. Highly recommend. Very easy to setup once you get the hang of it and do it a few times. The stove is the real game changer. Makes it very comfortable in some very frigid temps.
