Ron Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hunting camp with my dad was great. I am looking forward to starting a tradition with my kids soon. Funny how I did not realize what hunting camp really was until less people were able to make hunting camp. But they are definitely memories that I am now grateful to have. Or hunting camp moved locations all the time. We were a core group that hunted Maine, NY, Pa and WV. I just need to start figuring out a plan for hunting camp. Roon Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 My dad would go with his buddies down to South Jersey and Maine every November. As a little kid he'd pick me up last Friday after school. I remember hanging out by the fire most Friday night, the pop up camper smelling like beer, bourbon, camp fire smoke, cigars and farts. Waking up Saturday morning and ruining most of the days hunt unless they were yo bucking. Definitely good times. Deer camp was definitely more about good times with good friends than shooting deer. roy381, Jcol6268, hvnj and 2 others 5 Not a complete a$$ hole just one of the dingle berries that hang off it.
Eyesofthewoods Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Nothing like PA hunting camp for me. It’s my home away from home even though I was born and raised 20 minutes from where it’s located. It brings me back to my roots, my lineage and simpler times. My great grandfather hunter The same hollows and hills in 1930 when there was no deer around even. Something about the wood stove, flannels, the meat pole, a lever action rifle. Big woods hunting and sharing a few drinks with the boys after a long cold day of hunting around the fire. i have many spots in PA that could produce much larger bucks then what I kill at my camp. Some really nice private farms with 130”plus bucks. But my heart is not there. My family is not there and my lineage is not there. My lineage is of an old school PA mountain folk and I try to keep it that way and pass it on to my kids! great article! JimmyScags, hvnj, nmc02 and 6 others 8 1

hvnj Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunities to hunt Canada and Alaska several times as well as other states for a variety of animals. If you gave me the choice of hunting at my PA deer camp or anywhere else in the world for the rest of my life I would choose deer camp. The experiences, history, and people over the years is irreplaceable. It’s my favorite place in the world and when I go back each year I’m able to relive those memories. nmc02 and Silkcitymedic 1 1

Dominant buck Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Great post, great memories shared. Ty I've been to hunting camps from Maine, PA, NY, and ofcourse NJ. They all have a special place in my heart and soul for that moment in time. My deer camp is now strictly NJ, Looking forward for chasing down some of those mountain "ridge runners " deer this week. Hunt hard, be safe, make some great memories Nanuk and nmc02 2
