Monday Redemption - Buck Down

I know I promised to get this up Tuesday morning, but the week got busy with my barn build so that never happened.

Anyhow, while in Ohio before Thanksgiving, this buck began showing up everywhere on my farm. This was the 2nd potential hit lister this season. Muzzy Monday dawned 13 degrees and very still. The boys were in stands on the food plots since I already shot one during permit bow. As the consolation prize, I decided I would sit in the OR and try to enjoy the day. The Original Redneck, or OR, as we call it, is in the middle of the woods between bedding, swamp, and a ridge-top. A perfect set up as long as my guess to where they were bedding was correct. As it turned out, I bumped a few in the dark, as soon as I stepped foot off the main trail. I wasn't worried because I knew they would end up near my Brother in the upper food plot. The day was very busy with does and small bucks passing the OR which kept my hopes high. At 4:17, I got a pic of a good buck, following a doe, at the far edge of the property, then a couple other pics, as he closed the distance to me(see pics). At 4:39 he was within two hundred yards of my set but no guarantee where he would end up. At 4:45 I caught movement coming down off the ridge through the swamp. Antlers! It's him, and he looks good at 40 yards. I stand to get ready for the shot. He's angling away, in the thick stuff, and adding yardage with each step. Finally, at 75 yards, he stops and gives me a clear view of his chest. BOOM! The new combo of BH209 and Barnes Expander is on the way but the flame and smoke has me blinded to the outcome of my shot. I reload and begin to try to locate him with my binoculars. Nothing. I take my time climbing down and over to where I shot at him. A few minutes later, I spot a glisten of antler in my flashlight and the game is over. BBD! He's a great main frame eight with bladed brows, stickers, and a bunch of trash. Thanks for looking.
