mazzgolf Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 This Saturday is our statewide waterfowl veteran's day. Are there any reports whether the birds are here yet in southern coastal? I'm not asking for specific spots - just curious if, in general, people are seeing birds anywhere between Cape May and Beach Haven?
RCR Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Was out a couple weeks ago scouting and cutting salt grass for my sneakbox. Seen a few black ducks, but that was it.
Batsto Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) Nope! All birds are stacked up North. My Canadian friends say Woodies are still in Canada above Maine. If we get some rain late November and December could be very fun. Many moons ago on Thanksgiving I saw over 1,000 woodies not far Rt 206/ S. Zone. It was like watching bugs flying for over an hour. A true spectacle!!!! It was a very warm fall that year 30 + yrs ago. Edited October 31, 2024 by Batsto
51smd Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I haven’t seen any birds in North Jersey at all this week. I don’t know where they are. http://www.rememberingryan.org/
NJNewbie Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 There's birds in the bay but not a lot. up north, my local pond that usually holds thousands of birds(not huntable) has less than 50 mallards on it right now. No variety of birds like there usually is. Shot a couple black ducks last weekend in southern zone.
