I live about a mile away from there. I had open heart surgery two years ago so I haven’t hunted that in a few years. Never got a deer, it’s small but close so I’d hunt it. For a while it was like my private little spot but not anymore. Once while still hunting a bus pulled up and who knows how many people got out and started a drive. I just packed up and left. Turkey season I had out of state trucks parked on the spot. I’d say if your close try it but if your driving a ways your taking a chance. It’s just a small spot.

Anybody in south Jersey deer hunt Elmer lake wma near palatine lake? Been looking up different wma’s on onX and was wondering if it’s worth trying

Using broad brush strokes, WMAs are heavily hunted and will have lower deer populations than other areas in those same zones.  That said, crowds are more during gun seasons.  If you archery hunt, crowds will be far less as that season is 5-6 months long.  Also, people are inherently lazy.  If you can find access into areas far away from the parking lots, pressure will be lower.  Good luck in south Jersey

There’s no far away from parking there. You can stand on one side of that woods and almost talk to someone on the other side.

Which is why its perfect for the clubs... stand on the one end, drivers walk from the other, and cover the entire strip in one sweep. Then hit the strip that goes west-east. Easy-peasy for the clubs to carpet bomb that place in an hour :)

Of course you have to worry about safety zone around the houses.

Everyone around the Salem, Cumberland,  Western Gloucester  counties hunt, and those small pieces, like Elmer and Woodstown area  get hit hard. I have hunted the piece by Palatine years ago, and in the early season its pretty good, depending on how quickly the pressure gets to it. Then again the mid to late rut when bucks are traveling a lot to find does.

In my experience,  the bigger WMA's in Cumberland (buckshutem,  bevan-millville, Dix) and western Salem (maskels mill, mad horse, abotts meadow-it has some bow only areas) are better. It stinks to put time in on a spot, especially when time is limited, and then have that spot blown up by too many guys on small acreage. Deer can be pushed off small pieces onto private quickly but on the bigger pieces, you still have access to them.

I can point to you towards a few spots if you like, pm me.
