BowhunterNJ
Ugh, that's terrible. Hopefully they can get it cleaned up and restock it to help it rebound.

Bucksnbows
I spent a lot of time and over $150,000 to restore West Portal Brook for the wild Brook and brown trout. Not sure how to proceed right now, but hoping enough wild trout survived to repopulate this limestone spring fed stream that flows into the Musky Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

Bucksnbows
what a shame. i hope the consequences are severe My guess is near zero will happen. It was an accident followed by a mistake by local firemen not calling hazmat before hosing down the detergent into the stream. And if a real fine were to be imposed, that $ would go to Trenton and not back into the stream or even the watershed. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

Bucksnbows
Quickie update now that I'm back in town. Trout Unlimited called a stakeholder meeting of our various partners and will be formulating and taking next steps to do our best to rectify this spill issue. There are daily studies currently looking at water chemistry, macro invertebrates, fish kills, etc. I will be out on Wednesday doing macro counts myself (aquatic bugs). This sucks big time, but there could be a silver lining if we can reintroduce native brookies from upstream and/or nearby tributaries to repopulate where wild browns had largely taken over. Bucksnbows
We are actively looking for volunteers to count and know fish species that have died and that includes all varieties (trout, dace, chubs, suckers, darters, eels, sunfish, etc.). You can PM me here if available this Wednesday at 10 am, thanks. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
