Even with those type harness you have about 5 minutes before suspension trauma can set in.  Gi with a rock climbing harness or a hybrid saddle.

My HSS comes with a strap to enable you to stand on it once you attach it to the two woven loops in the vest should that happen. But most hunters falling and using a vest are directly against the tree and it is easy to stand on whatever ladder or sticks you used to get up the tree in the first place.

We did lots of training with those style vests on work sites .

99% of the guys when hanging just 2 foot above the ground found it extremely difficult to get onto the suspension straps .

then add getting your nuts ripped off right before you try and compose yourself getting the straps out .

guys on job site where lightly lifted didn’t get to experience that part .

and almost impossible to unhook the tether once pulled up tight .

hanging with your back to the tree makes it super difficult to turn around and get repositioned.

A front tie harness like a RC harness turns you into the tree allowing a much quicker path to Safty .

they are made to hang in all day and suspension trauma isn’t an issue .

Have you tried it? It's not as easy as you would think.  What if you fall because you loose conciseness?  Even a hybrid saddle puts the weight on your ass and not the femoral artery alleviating the risk of suspension trauma.

...Primal Tree Stand Fall Earrest System...  25' of slow descent if you fall !

Yes.  Great device.   With a saddle ypu can use a 25ft teather and repell down as well if needed

A lot of great information here a lot of mixed opinions …. Have any of you actually fallen without being hooked on and how high ? Then have you fallen  using an harness hooked on ? I’ve been in both situations and it will literally take your breath away and you will be extremely cautious afterwards to the point of being hesitant for a very long time something you don’t ever forget ! If you use a full body harness properly it will save your life, no experience with a rock climbing harness but experimenting. Saddle hunting way too much going on for me, my nephew who is an avid hunter and practiced with the saddle before hunting with it had an incident requiring surgery for a rotator cuff repair, equipment sold in as new condition !
What ever method you choose and there are many and if done correctly they are safe it’s a matter of preference, if your not using any you will either be  hurt seriously or suffer the eternal dirt nap no one wants that, have safe and successful season …. Good Luck !
