Looking to buy an AR. Not looking for anything special just a good solid rifle. Looking to buy a new one. I will probable only shoot it once a year, just want to own one. What would you recommend?

I have the S&W mp15 like most others.  I bought it about 10 years ago though and dealer bought a lot of rugers and S&W ARs.  Got it for $625.00.  It was in PA while I was still living there so had to get legalized to NJ.  Decent gun for price shoots well no real bells and whistles.  Good luck.

Thanks. I have the MP 15 22 and it is a nice little rifle

Check out Palmetto Armory online. Talk to guys at Cobra One Tactical.

Both place are super knowledge and build custom/semi custom rifles for prices comparable, if not better, that factory models.

I am the Lorax - I speak for the trees.

Palmetto state armory. I’ve got a few of their guns and the quality is good. Fit and function is good also. You can probably beat the price, but you wouldn’t want to. Stay away from Bear Creek Arsenal stuff. Aero is good but overrated and they’ve had a lot of QC issues.

Same boat as you although I have procrastinated on it. I hope someone else will post it but there's a great youtube about going over the parts of the AR-15 to customize and all that.

But from what I've heard - go with the DD. I'm sure the S&W is fine but I've heard more about the DD being better. Not my opinion just what ive been told

Your budget will determine what one you will buy.

Just buy one off the rack at a gun store.  Don't have a salesman or anyone tell you about this trigger, this comp/brake, this grip etc. Blah blah.blah. If you're only shooting it a couple times a year you ain't gonna need/want anything fancy. They all work the same. They are all loud.

Stick with iron sights but you like it then move up to a red dot or scope.

Thanks. Just looking for something reliable. No bells and whistles. Iron sights are perfect for what I am looking for.
