Snakeheads

Recommended Posts

I’d be interested too.    My 9 year old son really wants to catch one. We tried for them in a lake in Virginia that has them.  However, despite having a reputation of being very aggressive we never even got a hit.

How many guys here fish for them ?

going To try and catch some down in the Trenton area . Seems they are stacked in pretty good down there

It’s even better further south. Any tributary along the Delaware is loaded. Lots of access spots for guys with kayaks.

Don't know why anybody would catch and release snake heads . Invasive species they are killing our native fish.

That ship sailed a long time ago .

Those fish  have been here a few decades already .

And for the most part the fish native to NJ that they eat also need to be kept in check

Prior to these introductions, the predominant freshwater sportfish native to New Jersey are Brook Trout, Pumpkinseed, Redbreast Sunfish, Yellow Perch, Chain Pickerel, White Catfish, Brown and Yellow Bullheads, and American Shad.

With that mindset , why bother even hunting Bears or yotes . Its a lost cause.

It’s past that point . If the state really wanted to do anything they would electroshock all over for them .

if bears and yotes were left un controlled for 20 years , hunting them wouldn’t do anything either .

FG is in charge of managing resources , and should have done something with them , as well as flatheads etc if they were really concerned .

‘how about we throw every bass on the bank too, they aren’t native .
