This brought back some crazy memories ....  years ago a good friend of mine had a German Shorthair Pointer named Runner he was given to him as a puppy by the then editor/writer of Sports Afield Magazine .... he grew into being one of the largest GSP's I have ever seen .... Runner would come back with woodcocks in his mouth alive you had to see it to believe it. The only thing we could ever figure out is that he stared them down somehow into a "Coma lol" and he picked them up he never hurt them, the only other possibility is he caught them on the upswing but we were never actually able to see the grab along with as fast as they are that seemed impossible, then they were plentiful as were grouse. He would also would bring back multiple other species including skunks and woodchucks .... simply insane .... how short life can be and memories last ! 

Also amazing how nasty skunks and woodchucks can be in the mouth of an ambitious GSP ! The skunks made for an extremely long ride home in the old Plymouth Duster .... The Good Ole Days For Sure !

  Yeah- he probably  picked those Woodcock up. Chucker Partridge also seem to get picked up by Hunting Dogs- especially  after a Rainstorm .
