Bucksnbows
Saw a decent Hendickson hatch while guiding on the Flat Brook yesterday with a Quill Gordon spinner flight starting as we had to leave. Today in the Ken Lockwood Gorge no-kill we had some more Hendricksons coming off along with small caddis. It won't be long until we have regular dry fly action. Kype
nice report. ill be heading to the gorge this weekend but with dropping temps ill be bringing my nymph box. i still have yet to get tying some dries. this winter i got really tied up (no pun intended) in making fly rods. i am just about done wrapping my 7'6" " gorge" fly rod. just need to pick up a reel for it. nice little 3 weight. Bucksnbows
nice report. ill be heading to the gorge this weekend but with dropping temps ill be bringing my nymph box. i still have yet to get tying some dries. this winter i got really tied up (no pun intended) in making fly rods. i am just about done wrapping my 7'6" " gorge" fly rod. just need to pick up a reel for it. nice little 3 weight. I guided in the Gorge yesterday, but it was a morning trip that ended about when the Hendricksons were about to hatch. We had tough fishing as did everyone there yesterday, but managed to hook over a dozen. Landing them was the issue yesterday, and that started with a lack of a hook set......but the client was a great guy and learned a lot. Was anything rising? Yes, some on the Flat Brook and some on the SBR in the Gorge the last two days, but there were not yet enough mayflies to focus them on the duns. Water temps for both rivers are right around 51 in the daytime, so that will get the hatches going. Low water is helping warm up the temps, but let's hope we get some much needed rain and soon! Today's rain seems mostly south of NJ trout country, at least so far according to the radar. We are entering our 3rd straight spring with below average to really below average ground water supplies. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
