gobblergetter
This past February I caught a male Fisher that was radio collared by fish and wildlife biologists as part of an ongoing study to identify population density and preferred habitat of Fisher in N.J. Two males in total were collared. One is staying in the same general area but the one I caught seems to be a roamer. He went rogue right after being released but was finally located many miles away in Stokes state forest. He has been missing again, since early May. He seems to perfer the Blue Ridge Mts and data pionts have placed him in Hainesburg, Columbia, Warrington, Branchville, Stillwater and Stokes If you happen to observe a Fisher please look hard to see if it's wearing a collar and if so , Report the sighting to WARNDEP as soon as possibly so a biologist can confirm which Fisher it is. If you get a good look at it, the missing Fisher has the antenna sticking up on his right side while the other is on the left. mike033089
That is wild how far he has gone. Very cool though. Is that typical behavior for them?

I don't know their typical home range and it's going to be interesting to see what info the study uncovers....that's why I made the post. LittleM
When I was a bobcat volunteer and we lost a cat, I got to fly in the fire service helicopter to track it. Maybe you'll get the same opportunity. Bucksnbows

Maybe you'll get the same opportunity. Not sure at what point they reserve to that. When I was involved with the eastern coyote study, we had a female that went rogue after I caught her a second time. The East Stroudsburg student went up in a plane after a couple weeks and never located the coyote. It was later shot by a goose hunter, 50 miles S.W. of Philadelphia! nmc02
I spend or at least have spent a lot of time in the woods in NJ. I have never seen a fisher nor a bobcat while hunting in NJ. I hunt mostly Sussex Cty (Zn. 2, 3, & 6). No pics of a fisher ever. Bunch of bobcat pics in NJ. I have seen many bobcats hunting in PA, MN, & IL. Nicest looking were in MN. Jcol6268
My buddy saw a fisher the other day south of that. In Washington, NJ. I figured it was only a matter of time. I watched the video he took. No collar. Awesome to see. I’ve seen plenty of porkys in Stokes over the years, so I expect them to love that area.
