My buddy is a suit for Jcpl.  He says it’s well know the grid can’t support a large influx of homeowners using electric cars.  Our grid infrastructure is decades behind where it needs to be to meet current needs minus electric vehicles.   But hey our govt will spend money to improve other countries needs vs ours.

The manufactures of electrical equipment can’t build what’s needed just to keep current demands in check .

let alone the grid being able to handle more .

There are very highly trafficked hospitals waiting over a year already for transfer switches , and switchgear to fix long standing issues with their emergency back up systems .

Until equipment is readily available , any attempt just to keep current systems running is done with  huge temporary bandaids

I worked in one hospital where the electricians were changing over everything to led in the entire building. And the power company paid for most of it because it was cheaper for them to do that vs upgrade the substations in town. They can’t keep up.

Time for a generator. I know a guy:nerd:

Got a portable one.  Usually I wait a while until I have to hook it up, then right after I do the power comes back on.  I do have 2 free breakers now that the water heater is gone.  I'd take you up on it if I wasn't in town where the power gets turned on first.   Very rare I need to use it.
