I was just a kid didn't get to see him in New York before he moved to California. 

But watching him on TV was amazing!

He broke out of the negroe leagues

Open the door for Jackie Robinson

A true pioneer , good person humanitarian

I saw him play at Connie Mac Stadium when I was a kid. Mays, Bonds and McCovey were playing for Giants. Cookie Rojas hit a homer which propelled the Phillies to a huge win.

I remember being excited to hear that the Mets had signed Willie toward the end of his career. He was a joy to watch. Somewhere in my attic I believe I have an autographed baseball signed by him, I guess it's time to go exploring.

Bobby Bonds played with Willie not Barry. I think Willie was Barry’s Godfather.
