Pretty detailed pic of a deers anatomy

Many years ago a mentor advised me a good reference to aim is half way up the deer behind the front elbow. Over the years my aim point has become more refined to 1/3 up the deer behind the front elbow.

On a broadside deer I go straight up from the leg.   On a quartering shot I go straight up from the opposite front leg.

Notice how low the spine is at the shoulder.   You can hit pretty far down and still be above the spine, causing people to believe that there’s a “void” between the lungs and spine.

I actually considered buying one of his prints and framing it. They are really cool. A nice decoration for a man cave or mount room.

Those dots are PERFECT - you obviously know your sh#t Rusty! 
 

If broadside u enter, if quarter away you want to exit it. Quarter to - wait for it to turn is how I roll.  I know many are not that patient and get lucky with a quarter to angle but it’s generally responsible for many  gut shots and call the dog.

Rusty and I may on occasion disagree on deer regs such as APR’s which I lukewarmly endorse but we will always have the green dot.

I was referring to the Ranch Fairy.  This is awkward.
