active turkey nest with 9 eggs!!

I was at the farm where the boat is stored (ruminating on what to do about the rust lol) and the farmer was cutting down the grass. I look up and see a hen turkey take flight and fly into the woods. I look, and there is a tuft of grass the farmer is not mowing and working around. Turns out, there is a turkey nest here (farmer said he almost ran her and the eggs over until he saw it!). Lots of eggs! Hopefully, a sign of things to come (unfortunately, though, the farmer has the property up for sale, might not be able to hunt it next year). But this is adjacent to a WMA so still a good sign for public land turkeys!

Sometimes when a nesting site is disturbed like with that mowing the hen will abandon it. Also it is now more vulnerable to predators.

Mazz, sit on them and keep them warm . until the hen returns.

Probably her second or third attempt at producing a successful clutch. Odds are stacked against her. Never give up Mother Hen!!!

I hunted that field two years ago ... saw a few jakes, and a fox  I suspect the fox(es) are creating a problem for Mother Hen. But it sure looks like she's trying her hardest!!
