Camping?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Similar to Yamar’s question a few days ago about where to take kids fishing….

I'm asking about camping.

I don’t mind driving 3-4 hours from central Jersey.  Looking for a nice spot that’s not filled with partiers with music and all that.

I’d like car access since I’m bringing along wife and two kids, 12 and 10 year old boys.  Doesn’t have to be a place with bathrooms n showers and all that.
We love fishing by the way!  So if there was somewhere near a lake or stream all the better

Please let me know of any spots.  If someone wants to pm me to not post publicly of course that’s fine with me too.

Thank you!

Tim

Camp Taylor is nice. They have a game room, mini golf and the Lakota Wolves.Near the Water Gap

I live near here. There’s also a winery near there and a buck hill brewery the other way on 94.  Any state campground will have shelters that sleep 4 with no water or lights for maybe 50$ a night some have lakes for swimming like spruce run, swartswood etc.

not all sp campgrounds in Nj have shelters. jenny jump spruce run and voorhees sp all have shelters and fishing close or onsite like spruce. unfortunately in state parks you never know who is going to camp next to you and crank loud music , run loud ass generator all hours of night and be obnoxious and what not.  but if you have an issue state park police will come if you call. it sometimes takes hours though but they will show

Spruce Run has been closed for swimming for a while because of algae bloom. Pretty sure it’s still closed

Stokes and Belleplain are good options at either end of NJ.

Hickory Run and Locust Lake are nice in PA.

Grand Isle SP on Champlain in VT is a great place too, little further drive by easy and well worth it.
