How are you finding and observing bears?

Recommended Posts

Had one in my yard at this time yesterday trying to get into the chicken coop.  They go wherever they want to go to find food, not just in the big woods. Around swamps is usually a good start other than watching bait or other food source.  Don't see as many as I used to up here in the NW.  I think that's because they have become more secretive beside having numbers reduced.

I think each area of the state that has bears will be different.  I live In the woods right near the water gap in Warren county. I don’t see them much.  They are here in great numbers but stay out of sight. In a more populated neighborhood bears will be comfortable around people and be seen more often. Like mentioned above it’s the food source. Lots of farms and woods near me so they don’t venture towards homes too often.  Except I see the same homes every week on garbage day have their garbage all over. You would think they would learn and put it out the morning of.

Find the food and you will find bears. Its that simple. In the Gap find benches that are dropping beech nuts or acorns and bears will eventually appear. Its that simple. Just like anything else got to put the time in.
