Wild Turkey Testes

Recommended Posts

I’m trying my best this year to really use as much of my turkeys as possible…making stock with the bones, saving the organ meat (even though I don’t care much for it but am determined to use it), and even making wingbone calls.

I did a quick google search and didn’t come across much, but has anyone here tried cooking up the testes?  The only thing I saw online was one person saying they had a fairly strong flavor and pretty terrible texture.  I’m thinking of maybe chopping them up, frying them, and throwing in a soup or on top of a salad but curious to know what others have tried

Maybe when the zombies come, but until then everything gets recycled in The Circle Of Life in the woods.

If you want to preserve something that gets overlooked by most, look into harvesting the gizzard stones. But you can't eat them.

This is a new one to me LOL Never heard of that.

I'm all about eating what I kill ... Merganser? Sure, I tried it. Crow, yes. But turkey balls is where I draw the line. Well, that and whatever it is that @JHbowhunter constantly harasses us with. :vomit:

If you are worried about it, like others say, dump it in the woods and feed the carrion eaters; they will appreciate it.

I heard about gizzard stones from a friend and decided to keep them this season from the Osceola and the Easterns I shot.  Most people find it odd. LOL

Sounds like the general consensus is to not bother with them…since I already have them vacuum sealed in the freezer I might just add them to my dog’s dinner and see if he’ll eat them…if not, in the woods they go 😄
