ratherbhunting
Thank you for posting. I saw one the other day when I was turkey hunting and didn't know what kind of bird it was. FRANKIED

LanceinNJ
It’s my favorite bird. I only see them in NY when I’m Turkey hunting. Pretty rare. They also have some strange habits. I had one follow me down a logging road one foggy morning. One of my best “birding” memories. FRANKIED

Bucksnbows
They are actually very common if you know their song and habitat preferences. Despite their brilliant colors, they spend most of their time high up in trees in mature forest, near openings in the canopy. Once you learn their song and hear one, spotting it becomes far easier. They were all over my buddy’s NY farm this past weekend and I only saw a few while turkey hunting, but heard many more each day.
