US Sailors "Detained" by Iran

By now, we have all probably seen the footage of the sailors "detained" by Iran in the Persian Gulf.

 

Did anyone notice the shot of the sailors' passports and find it, like so much else in this "incident", strange?

 

Why would Iran have their passports?  Who carries a passport on operations?  Who in the military ever carries their passport, as opposed to the military ID?

The way I understand it is that we are not giving them billions of $'s.  They are getting a relief on sanctions put against them that will now be lifted. So now they can generate money on petro exports, trade in precious metals and access to some currently blocked revenue.

Sorry guys I don't watch any news because there is nothing good about it only news they show is crap and BS.

Sections were structured to fine any financial institution that held money for Iran.  If you prevent them from using the world financial network, they can't spend or earn any money.  Also, any company doing business with Iran was not allowed to do business with the US.  Their economy is tiny by comparison, so their access to the latest-greatest in the world was severely limited, and getting parts to fix their stuff because increasingly difficult.
