The common "brown rat" that is   This SOB had ruined and contaminated 2 of my bags of corn in my garage. He also left droppings everywhere! Now I need to make sure there are not anymore.

Had a problem with them last month after I moved into a new place. Killed the first one and my gf said great now we don't have a problem anymore...6 mice later I think I got them all.........for now :lookaround:

to fish or not to fish...what a stupid question

^ That sucks! I never had an issue with them before. I am taking Rusty's advice and going to put some poison out in case there is more.

when i moved we had a major mice problem.. i went to ace hardware and bought "rat-x". best rat (not poison) i ever bought. it is pet and human safe. the back of the bag says only effective on rodents because only rodents have something in them that allows the absorption of water. these pellets stop the absorption in their bodies. takes about 4-7 days to kick in. the rodent's blood starts to clot, you will see their scat turning a yellowish/white color. then they go into a coma and die. can be used inside and out and around water sources.

this is not a "grab some pellets" and chuck them around. it has to be placed in little trays (i used aluminum trays from a hobbie shop) and placed in areas you here/see mice or rats. this stuff really works well. haven't had a mouse since.

the first 2 days are crazy. because every mouse/rat you have is coming in to feed on the pellets. after that it gets less and less. then nothing. been a month now for me, still mice free. and still have a whole bag. i used 6 little trays and baited 2 times. i would say it killed 10-15 mice. but probably much more. product is expensive. i think i paid 25 dollars for a little bag. but well worth in IMO.

I dunno man.. the problem with poisons is the rats or mice eat it, die under your floor boards or in your walls, then stink like hell for a couple weeks...  i'm all for sticky traps myself.. :cupcoffee:

. Good point, but this is a detached garage so I don't have to worry about them stinking up the house.

They sell sticky traps and live traps that are the most effective for indoors they walk into this clear tube but cannot escape and the sticky traps just need a dab of peanut butter.i wouldn't recommend poison for indoors like someone mentioned they die under floorboards and insulation.as far as outdoors with rats the best solution is for poison and them big traps but you have to prevent them from coming by stocking feed elsewhere besides a shed they love places like that and as long as there's food there they will be back.

If your garage is attached to your house you want to tackle this problem ASAP. Norway rats are extremely bad to have in your home. They carry a few different ticks that are known to carry more than one type of plauge. First remove the food source and then seal up every way they can get inside. Remove the food and then find a nesting area in there, usually it is close. Follow the droppings. They will chew through everything except metal. Gang set the hell out of the garage and be aware that the Alpha male is extremely smart and hard to catch. I would recommend a camera in there to see if there are more. Good luck.
