A couple fox had been caught already on this 10 inch wide trail through weeds..but something today was amiss, lol. She actually made it close to a corner set snare which I thought initially had her.  Not until after I dispatcher her and noticed the corner set snare was still there and then I made it to the set which obviously was beyond salvaging, lol.

Had i seen the condition of the cable, I woulda never paused for the photo..another hour or so even on a drag which usually prevents chewing for me and she woulda been gone.

Too open for those in a place like that.  Need some weight there..Other places those are fine where theyll hit some entanglement.  They can go a ways in that spot if they stay in the field like this one did.

Just went and looked Mike and I believe it was 5/64 7x7 on that one... Most of the coyotes this year have been.  Unless its a coyote that has been down this road before it hasnt been a problem on a movable anchor.

Im torn Mike.  Id say with the penny locks its definitely gonna be.  If I run an ADC loop and washer I like the 5/64.

I have used alot more 3/32 this year and I do like the memory it holds when loaded and with the extra weight of the cable it does fire fantactic.  For the underwater snares particularly I want the 3/32.

A loaded question for sure, no pun intended.  I love the 1x19 cable too, but for a fox I just dont think I "need" it.  If I know the exact size of a snare loop I want by knowing the size of the run Im setting its hard to beat 1x19 loaded for the size loop I want.

Depends on what youre looking for in the cable.  Versatility on a fox line where your loops may very in size depending on the run you find, its hard to beat the 5/64th 7x7.  Its gonna feel flimsy to you if youre accustomed to the 3/32, but I can make it work with an identical load for a 6 inch loop or eleven inch loop without it having a hang-up point if you know what I mean.  I can do the same with 3/32, but not with the penny locks.  Maybe its just me but I cant get that diameter and that lock to work for me.  I will probably always prefer 1x19 in the 5/64th for just about anything but its less forgiving for me if I need to adjust my loop size.  It fires like nobody's business if its loaded for the size loop I need but its just not as versatile if you tend to adjust loop size the way I do.

For me, its not at all about defined loop size on a specfic species..Its all about the height to the bottom of the loop regardless of the canine and regardless of the loop size.  Caught too many fox to count in an 11 inch loop and enough coyotes in an 8 inch or even 7 inch loop to believe I need to set em differently anymore.
