Healthcare insurance cost is killing me.

So my rates are going up to 20k plus co insurance a year for a family of four. That more than 1/4 of my yearly salary! What the ****!

What does everyone else do/pay? I need an alternative, this is killing me.

I pay about $1,500/mo. with a $6K deductible before co-insurance kicks in.  I feel your pain.  This whole "Affordable" Healthcare Act was a crock of sh!t.

I hate Obama, but to be honest under Obamacare my healthcare costs/ insurance has dropped .....I dont know how my Mrs. did it , but we were up to almost $20,000 a year now its under $10,000.....

$1100 a month.$35 copay. Took the kids to the doctor last week,$105 just to walk in.

You have to be very careful what you gave up to get lower premiums.......it's the same with car insurance.  To lower monthly premiums, you have to go with much higher max out of pocket limits.  That's all fine until you need the health insurance and find yourself struggling to pay them.  But I know you, Mike, and know you're very smart with your money and would have that covered.  I'm under my wife's plan currently and her company had to drop its so-called "Cadillac plan".  If my open heart surgery happened this year instead of in '13, my out of pocket would have gone from the $1,500 I paid that year to more than $5,000 this year.  That and they forced me to change where I buy my prescription drugs against my will.  Seems if you already had good or excellent health insurance, you are now penalized so others can have insurance.  Not the America I first grew up in........

i guess i am pretty lucky. my insurance through work is good. $8 per pay check get taken out for medical. $7 get taken out per paycheck for dental. i get paid weekly. $1000 deductible.

Kype do you have an out of pocket max? If not you're looking at paying $1000 for any given visit. Is anything covered that doesn't fall under that deductible?

my out of pocket max is $3500. deductible is $1000. office visits are 20$ emergency room is $100. everything is covered at 80% after the deductible is met

There is an alternative (for the time being), get old! I suffered for years with a really bad knee and each year my insurance deductible went higher as I decided on how much longer to deal with the pain of daily life. Had both knees done at once 1 1/2 years ago, after I elected to reject my employers insurance plan and go on Medicare. My cost of operation went from $20,000 (deductible and co-insurance) to $0 and I had one of the best knee surgeons in Morristown Memorial. Life is good and it was a piece of cake!

Yeah that's not bad at all considering what you're paying.

That's a family OOP max of $3500? That's actually really good if that's the case.

The deductible is high, but you'll hit your cap pretty quickly with family and be at 100% coverage after that.
