A Beaver Problem........pic

Recommended Posts

I have a deep creek in my backyard when it is dry, but now it is high even when dry because this little busy beaver decided to damn it up. As long as it doesn't rain there is no problem......that is not going to happen. Anyone ever have to deal with this issue before? Tomorrow I plan to call Game and Fish, and the township and see how that goes.

Beaver permits just came out, season opens day after Christmas, if you tell me where you are located I can try to figure out who has that zone and put you in touch, only a couple permits given per zone, 200 for the whole state

All he has to do is call Fish and Game. They will contact the permit holder for that zone and then make the connection.

The township won't do anything to help except refer him to the State

That’s a very low number of overall permits. Has it always been so low if you know?

Yes. There was bill introduced to increase them but Gov. Murphy pocket vetoed it in Jan. 2020

That sucks. My NY trapper along with his partner caught 87 last winter and that’s in one small area of NY. Our farm there that my one buddy owns is a massive colony along a stream flowing through his land. One new dam destroyed some of our farmer’s corn this fall.
