I hear you Rusty, I am a "bow guy"  but I am open to this weapon so far and I never really understood why some guys hate crossbows

Not sure how this one will go in terms of hunting big game.

It's essentially an air gun, so I'd imagine it will be classified as a gun.

Also I'd imagine to get the speed, it results in more sound with more air...but still less than a powder gun.

Also don't think 2" groups at 50 yards are "great"

The worst thing I've seen yet sorry but I'm someone how does not like xguns(crossbows) they should be for older guys and handy cap people sorry but having your kid walk into the woods with a xgun is NOT the way you should teach them to bow hunt sorry but it's jmo.

Without starting a fight, because you can count me in on those that shoot a compound but have zero issue with crossbows, should that child walk into the woods using a longbow only?  Or is a recurve OK?  Can he use a high tech compound?  Crossbows have certainly come a very long way, but the fact is, they remain one of the oldest weapon types still in use today.

One could make the same argument about guns.  Flintlock, smoothbore, round ball and patch only?  How about a Sharps break action cartridge?  Or is it OK for the young hunter to shoot that AR in a state like VT where that gun would be legal for deer?  Where does it say one weapon is not good but another is if they all accomplish clean, ethical kills in practiced hands?

It's an airgun that shoots a bolt.  This isn't new.

IMHO it will most likely be classified as a firearm in NJ like most other "things" that use compressed gasses to launch a projectile.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

I agree with Bcksnbows and to add to what he said, this is still a short range weapon. The projectile is an arrow, so whether it is being launched by a string or air, one still needs to get fairly close for a kill and woodsmanship is still needed to hunt.

It's not about how long the crossbow has been around but it's about how it's not bow hunting to me. a lot of other guys and gals. I'm sorry but it's way to easy for someone to grab one and go into the woods and shoot an animal. there is no sport in it to me and that's why I don't do much gun hunting. I'm a Bow hunter I shoot recurve and compound recurve has not sights on it. It's all good if you hunt with one but I just don't be leave you should start a kid out with an crossbow (xgun)
