YIKES!!

Under the right storing conditions, how long is that stuff good for?

I have black powder in my basement for like 5 years that still shoots great. I just make sure the lid is on proper and the styrofoam seal thing that comes on new containers.

I am the Lorax - I speak for the trees.

Honestly, how many shots a yr you take?? 5....

I took 10 shots the other day just trying to tweak things. I don't shoot a lot anymore but still more than the average hunter I would say. For that reason alone I'm done with BH. I'm back to 777.

Remember when they reformulated 777 and it became so much cleaner??? It isn't that much worse than BH and much cheaper.

To each their own. BH seems far cleaner to me, as I literally could shoot 40 shots without cleaning....never gonna happen w 777.

I suspect nearly all the inlines will go to a large rifle primer option in the future for BH use.

What surprises me is the 888 has not been released....that is what is used in the nitro fire loads.

I went the BH route after shooting Pyrodex for years. Pyrodex is probably the dirtiest powder, short of black powder, you can use.

I see people say, "it doesn't matter how much it costs because I only shoot once or twice a year", and "I can shoot 20-40 times without cleaning".

This is why I switched back to pellets. I never have to shoot 20-40 times at a time. If I am only shooting once or twice a year, it doesn't matter how clean my powder shoots.

BH had no benefits for ME. I didn't like handling loose powder.

Once sighted in, fouling is not an issue. Even at the range, when shooting a half dozen times, you can easily clean the barrel at the time loading becomes impossible with other propellants.

I do hear that BH is more accurate. That I cannot attest to. I zero my ML and Slug Gun at 50 yds. In NJ, I never shot a deer over 75 yds so a little better accuracy (if it exists) does not come into play at these ranges.

I am not saying BH lovers are wrong. There are advantages that some people may realize. I'm glad I got off the BH train because it's disadvantages (ease of use, price, and availability) outweigh its benefits for ME.
