It's funny how you can plan a trip for 6 months with 4 other kayak friends from Hawaii, California and Florida and "think" that everything will be perfect.... We all landed in Cabo last Saturday within 90 minutes and had no issues with luggage and gear.....Had another kayak friend pick us up at the airport for the 2 hour drive to LaPaz where we would drop off all the gear on a boat that we had booked 6 months earlier and had confirmation a week before, to live aboard for 7 nights.

We were going to do all the fish cleaning, cooking and everything else with the 5 of us and a captain for the boat.  We had kayaks being delivered the next morning that would fit on the boat and we would be using for the trip.

We get to the boat after a long day of traveling, drinking and excited for the trip.. We get to the boat and the owner of the boat tells us that the boat won't be available because of engine issues !!!    WTF !!!  He said he had a different boat that we could use, but it was more of a cruising boat with nothing at all set up to fish from.   He didn't have an issue with giving us all the deposit back but now it was time to check into a hotel and regroup for the rest of the trip.

After a few calls after breakfast,  we found a hotel that is on a marina that has everything we would need,  including 2 boats with a captain each day, breakfast  and lunch included. rooms with a view, pool, fish cleaned and brought back to the hotel for a chef to cook each night and a bunch of other great perks..   It worked out to be 100 times better than living on a boat !!!  We went each day and caught a bunch of Mahi, skip jack tuna, snapper and the first day we landed a sail fish that was amazing at dinner.

Then, we all had flights back the following Sunday and on Thursday we found out that the airport in Cabo would be closed on Saturday and Sunday because of hurricane Norma !!!   Again...WTF !!!   We all got flights out on Friday morning and we all made it out before the hurricane.....Which is great because the area we were staying at got crushed by the storm.

We lost one day of fishing and a travel day,  but it all turned out to be an amazing trip but the only negative was that we didn't get a chance to kayak fish.
