When do you consider Rut when first Doe comes into heat. I believe some areas by me that started a couple of weeks ago. Many More Doe are coming into heat now and the next couple of weeks . Then again in early December and again in January. Some biologists say I guess 90 percent of adult doe bred northern NJ by November 15 . Again a lot of this is defendant on Doe / Buck ratio. The Bucks are ready as soon as velvet comes off. The doe coming into heat that is all triggered by light of day shorter days starts the cycle. But some do come into heat early. Does that start the rut?

Yes I believe that starts it it may not be peak. But it sure get the ball rolling. I was just surprised she let that botton buck breed her I’ve never seen that before. I know a lot of this years doe fawns will be breed late seasons but I just didn’t think that a mature doe would take to that botton buck. There are a lot of doe in that spot maybe that has something to do with it

That is alway been my experience but she clearly let this bottom buck beer her. Here he is again ten miles apart and there was a third just outside the camera image.jpeg.88fcc11bd193b4730993e629579b62f1.jpeg

So all kidding aside I would say that the rut is officially on. Get in the wood if you can. That doe was definitely ready

She is not ready. Look how she is standing. She is just feeding and the button is got the feelings but not the right feelings and brain.
when a doe is ready she squat down some for the buck. I’ve seen it several times.
