Moment of silence

It looks like my dear and trusted vehicle is done. My 1995 F350 is a victim of NJ's salt program. Now the search starts for a new friend. Looks like dodge is the only full size truck with a stick. Wish me and wallet luck.

I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.

That sucks and I know how you feel. I have a 2003 f150 with 207k miles on it and I know my time is limited with it. I have been looking casually on line and the prices are ridiculous for both new and used.

It's a sad day when it's almost impossible to find manual trans trucks isn't it?

Last time I checked, Diesel Rams in the 2500 up were the only way you could get a manual trans in a full size. That's way out of my price range.

The Tacoma was offered in stick too, but the Tundra wasn't. No other manufacturer offered a manual with 4x4 that I could find.

It's depressing to see the stick shift become extinct. I hate automatic transmissions, overly complicated garbage in my opinion. At least a manual you can change parts if they wear or fail and if you have some tools, you can do it yourself, an automatic...can't do that....have to replace it because rebuilds rarely last. Plus I want to select the frigging gear....not some computer.

Sorry to hear about your truck. I'll honor the moment of silence now.

Good luck replacing it!!!

I traded in my 2002 Ranger on a 2012 Ram in 2013. The 11 years I had the Ranger was the longest I ever kept a vehicle so I know how you feel.

The reason I traded in the Ranger is because I needed a vehicle with better hyway gas mileage. The Ranger had an off road package with a 4:11 differentials. With the much larger engine in the Ram I get 20MPG on the hyway.....The Ranger was considerably less.

If you get a Ram check the ground clearance, some (mine included) have less ground clearance than others.

Also I purchased mine as a 1 year old used vehicle. When you purchase brand new the initial depreciation is a killer.

I don't know where you are located, but I recommend Precision in Butler. The service department is excellent.

Nowadays it is hard to find any vehicle with a stick trans.

Matty it also appears all trucks have electric windows now. AC is also standard now which must explain why there is no side vent windows. I am of the theory if I don't have it it cannot break. When I order the 95 I deleted has much as I could. No AC, no carpet, manual hubs, etc.

230, I have a salesman from Butler working on a price now. The Ranger's were a great truck mine went over 350k before I gave it away. Easy to fix and parts were cheap.

I know a guy that has about a 2005 F-150 with crank windows. When he got it I remarked I didn't think they made crank windows anymore.

The salesmen at Precision are typical car salesmen you have to watch them same as anywhere else. Brian and Pam the service managers are very good though.

I'm another old fashioned guy that likes manual shifting over auto, but the reality is that today's automatics are as good or better than a manual tranny when it comes to everything.  And they no longer crap out like they used to if you just change fluid now and then.

On my third Dodge , none were sold cause of problems just time to change ...Family grew , regular Cab for Quad and Quad for Crew . Earlier Rams had tranny issues but my 05 was flawless to 110k when I traded her for 2011 Crew. Good Luck
