Hello all, I've been shooting my new Knight Mountaineer .50 cal Muzzleloader, using a leadsled. I topped it with a Leupold ultimate slam 3x9 scope. I used 250 grain bloodline sabots, because Knight recommended them. I shot 90, 100, and 110 gr. of Blackhorn 209. I swabbed between shots. My groups are around 4" at 100 yards. Pic is attached. Should I try different sabots? What do you recommend? Thanks.

250 grain shockwaves work good for me. 100 grains of white hot pellets. Dead on at 100 yards. Topped with a bdc and accurate out to 200 yards.

I start hunting and try again in the spring. Time to hunt not shoot.

I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.

Oh man that looks like buckshot pattern.try a closer range maybe 50yd to get it tight then take it out to 100.powerbelts are really good every muzzleloader I've owned they shot well

Every gun is different. Consistency with the muzzle loader is important. I have had good luck with 2 50gr pellets of pyrodex and a 250 gr shockwave. Swab between each shot and let the barrel cool. My first shot out of a cool barrel was always different than when the barrel started warming up. I also never scrub the barrel clean during hunting season after sighting in.

shoot at 50 yrds sighting in. I usually try for around 2 inches high at 50 then move to 100. Most of your shots in NJ should be less than 100 yrds

The 2 shots above and to the right of the bullseye were at 50 yards and hit in the same hole. So I backed it out to 100 yards and the group opened up to around 4".

I love powerbelts

Power belts fly great but do a very poor job on deer.  They pass throughout he deer with very little expansion and very little internal damage so deer travel further with poor blood trails after being hit.

I use 245 gr powerbelts  with 100gr powder.  I find that more than that  it tumbles.  Not that that's a bad a thing.  A tumbling .30  cal  can really do a lot damage once it  enters a body mid  section and comes out the top. or where ever it may go.  Please pass the  parmesan..  Ps. never had a deer go further than 50 yds.  Most drop  in their tracks.
