I was out checking cameras last week and pulled up a few radishes and turnips. They grew huge. Lots of green on the tops still and the deer are finally starting to eat the tops. Ive noticed they really like the radish tops. 20151220_130017_zpsf0euvblw.jpg20151220_125949_zpskxcmppi5.jpg

They are also hitting the rye with brassica mix pretty good now the last couple daysIMG_0423_zpsmrilnds1.jpgIMG_0379_zpsjkuihsl3.jpgIMG_0437_zpseyahln4r.jpg

Looking good.  We still have a lot of acorns on the ground so I would imagine that the deer would normally be hitting your plot a lot harder in a normal year.

Year 2 planting the turnips and radishes.

The deer are killing the tops now and this year they are actually eating the turnips and radishes whereas last year they didnt touch them.

I have about 4 acres this year with lots of food left.

Still have lots of green tops as well as huge turnips  the size of cantaloupes and radishes 18+ inches long.

I also did winter rye again. The plots are holding up good. In the evenings, its not uncommon to see 20+ deer feeding in the plots20170101_150520_zpsr9h2obgx.jpg20170101_150442_zpsoxnwcygb.jpg20170101_150534_zpsxtirpatd.jpg20170101_150549_zpsdq7btoln.jpg20170101_150631_zps0mtbcgns.jpg20170101_150709_zpsve42jsvf.jpg20161215_152125_zpsefw5szwz.jpg

That's awesome! I will be planting turnips for next season too( didn't have time this year) I was told that sometimes it dose take a season for the deer to figure out what you planted is something they will like but once they know they like it they will be back every year...

Where are you located?  We have 0 acorns here this year.  Whole ridges of oaks with none.  Hardwick/Blairstown area.

Those pics were taken today with the exeption of the one with snow. The amount of green in the field is impressive. I enjoy watching the deer go from plant to plant and inhale leaves the size of a dinner plate.

I have read that sometimes it can take 2 to 3 years for the deer to take a liking to them. Sometimes they wont touch them at all. They are very easy to plant with minimal equipment. All you need is a back pack sprayer with some round up and a hand seeder to broadcast around the 2nd to 3rd week of July.  The amount of green on the tops is amazing.
