JBdrone
Finished the duck blind today! My carpenter friend did most of it. Made a 4'x 10' deck with 1"x6" boards to keep our feet out of the muck. Screwed tree branches vertically to the deck and then screwed horizontal branches on top of the vertical ones to create a frame. Put a bunch of branches that have small twigs around the frame and wove tall grass throughout the twigs so the wind won't blow the grass away. A few wood ducks were on the far side of the pond watching us work. Hope they show back up Saturday. hammer4reel
If ducks only flew three feet above the water it would be great . but they don’t , top cover is way more important than side cover is . for it to work well you need to not be seen from above , especially on circling ducks . . JBdrone
Agreed. From the perspective of this one picture I see why you say that. However, what the picture doesn't show is the canopy of trees over the blind. We're tucked right back against thick woods. The blind is completely covered from over head and behind. We shoot ducks every year from this spot. But this year our feet and gear won't be getting muddy! FeniQuest217, hammer4reel and rackemup
JBdrone
Here is a photo of the blind from the front taken with a drone in the air (the angle of sight a duck would have). The actual blind is hard to see but that is kind of the point. Come on duck season, get here already! Rem Mag
Man that pic makes it look really open ! Was going to say basically the same as Hammer but if you know it's a proven spot and have the overhead concealment then shoot em up Good luck this season !
