CVA OPTIMA

CVA ACCURA

Simple.  Accurate and easy to use and maintain.

I had TC for a while and I recently bought CVA Accura MR. IMO very well made and very functional. Breaks down very easy for cleaning and they have a very good cleaning system. I know my TC FX was an older muzzy but this CVA is a much better gun

I'm sure there are lots of good weapons out there. They are getting better all the time. I would stay away from weapons that require specialized loads/powders. As mentioned, they can become scarce or even get phased out.

I'm sure almost all have removeable breech plugs. This aids in cleaning.

Look at all the options in your price range and buy what you can easily afford. Consider your needs. Are you hunting open fields where a 150 yd shot is required or you hunting thick woods where 60 yds is a stretch? Why spend $$$$ on a super high-end gun if you don't need it. Plenty of guys get great accuracy out of low end models.

I really like my Thompson center Pro Hunter FX. I have had several other brands CVA, Traditions but always went back to the Pro Hunter. I would go handle a few that would be my first move. Just my 2 cents.  Good luck with your search

I was always a TC guy while growing up but 3 years ago purchased a Traditions. I’ll be honest, it’s the only ML I take with me now. It’s light, accurate and very comfortable to shoot. Specific models are personal preference. Some longer and some shorter. I have TC, CVA and now Traditions in my safe. They’re all good.

I own TC, Knight, & CVA....this is an easy choice. TC once was the best by long shot, GARBAGE after smith & Wesson purchased them.

The knight is finicky and changed hands several times recently. Customer service is non existent.

CVA Accura by a MILE!!! If you plan to shoot BH209, they make a large rifle primers conversion kit for the accura.

No brainer....CVA Accura

My shots generally are under 100 yards. I currently have a TC Encore and can not get my breach plug cleared. I was told TC is out of business and I can not locate a new 807 breach plug.

Have you tried Dixon Muzzleloading Shop (610-756-6271). They are located in Pennsylvania. They are well known in that area and in business for a very long time. Probably 1 1/2 to 2 hrs away depending your location. Give them a call and they may be able to provide a solution with the breach plug

I looked at that large rifle primer kit. As far as I can see it's only for the newer Acura guns, the MRX and LRX guns. I haven't called CVA directly yet but do you know if they are also interchangeable on the older accura models
