I don't know if anyone here has tried it before but you can have great success calling Coons at night. They will come running to a Coon fight. My problem is a .22 short (legal ammunition for night Coon hunting) does not have enough stopping power and you will usually have one or two end up in your lap by the end of the night.

I have a question though that I cannot find an answer to. Can you use an electronic caller? Seems NJ law on Coon hunting stems only from hunting with Dogs.

Sent from my flip phone with the big buttons so I can see them

I have called them in Texas. I used my FoxPro with a wounded woodpecker sound. They came right to the call even had one try and carry it away!

Used 22 mag (the one you own) to nail them. They had so many on the ranch you could get half a dozen responding

Reported topics/replies get looked at aggressively :)

Regarding the topic, I've predator hunted at night with a caller and had coons come into the caller. Usually just curious. Never tried a raccoon distress/fight though. I think they just wanted to know what the heck was going on. Coons can be vicious when they fight...I posted an eerie video last year of a fight I encountered during the day while deer hunting. Can't believe a yote didn't come in to investigate!

Sorry Matt, I was trying to bring levity with truth. it won't happen again. I'm not prejudice just stating the facts as reported on the news. Heck I've got some great stories about my so called Jamaican uncle, God rest his soul. That's a couple stories for another thread at another time.

just never tried them yet.

too busy with trapping them.

sure wish we could daytime call them.

because i hate coons talking to me at night. i stopped night k9 hunting since having a family charge me and start talking and yelling.

freaked me out.

never went back out for a night calling session. lol
