SCOTUS oral arguments worth watching

Recommended Posts

There are a few SCOTUS oral arguments worth watching which may have impact on our firearms rights government law over reach.

United States v. Rahimi

This guy has had a troubled past, but could work towards our favor depending on how SCOTUS hears the argument.

Loper Bright Enterprises v. Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce

While this case has to do with federal regulators being aboard fishing vessels and forcing a vessel to pay the fee to have a federal regulator aboard it has much to do with "ABC Agencies" ATF, FBI, DEA etc

having unconstitutional power over congress creating their own "rules" the rest of us have to follow. This is pretty much a 40 year old case of

Chevron Deference

The reason I bring up this case is the ATF has created over reaching power which affects all of us including a $200 "extortion"

stamp fee to purchse NFA items  like suppressors ( we can't even have those in Jersey ).

To add to this Clarence Thomas has scheduled a conference with the full court to review NYS new background check fees on sales of guns and ammo:

While not at the oral arguments stage in SCOTUS, this could be big if they say NYS can't charge additional background check fees at the point of sale because I think that would shutdown NJ $15/16 NICS fee and/or the $25 permit to purchase fee.

Also very interesting that the plaintiffs first appeal on this to SCOTUS was shot down by Sotomayor, but when they refiled with Thomas he put it on the courts calendar to review. IMO it sends a message to the anti-gun states that Thomas (and SCOTUS to a degree) is not just going to let them get away with continued infringement.
