Trapping ???

What do you carry your trapping gear in when in the field?  It's only my second year trapping, but it didn't take long to realize that ya gotta carry a lotta gear in and out.  I've tried a few different bags and a five gallon bucket and it all worked, but I'm wondering what might work better and your preference.  I was thinking about getting a basket so any feedback on a basket would be great also.  Thanks in advance.

depends on what type of line i am running.

just snares, i have a back pack i use. i can fit plenty of snares, support wire, pliers, .22's.

my water lines, i can drive up to. so a f-250 carries my gear.

DP's, not sure of my work flow yet. haven't really went out and set them yet. i just used a 5gal bucket. i want to keep the bait and scents away from my snare bag.

Like ub said all depends. Snaring I found newt's idea of a carpenters belt works awesome for me. Pouches for snares and extensions. Tape measure pouch for wire. And of course plier sheath. Had one laying around the basement worked great. Haven't set many dps yet. Probably just use my trappers basket. A lot of cheap diy stuff on you tube for ideas. Hope that helps!

bag in the truck that has all the stuff. if setting snares I trap near the truck most of the time so the pockets in the trapping coat are the most used. if doing baited sets or DP traps then a bait bag and traps in the hand work well.  10 to 20m yards is a long walk most of the time for me LOL sometimes I do more than that but not often LOL.

Thanks for the responses.  Think I'm gonna go ahead and build me a trapping basket out of a trashcan.  Anyone have an old ALICE pack frame laying around that they want to sell or trade?  Funny how I have 3 alice packs but no frames.

i have always used a camo backpack. very useful and simple. and when trapping public lands, people wont see a large trap basket on you're back and know you're trapping, were as a back pack they will think you could be doing anything. trap baskets either woven or plastic are an instant sore thumb. most people, with any outdoor knowledge will know you are a trapper.

i did buy a small one to hang on the wall. makes for a great wall piece.

I use a trap basket for most of my trapping  but if I am on public ground or where people in cars can see me I use one of my boys old school bags for the reason kype has mentioned. most people wont give a backpack a second thought

When setting snares I use a older NWTF turkey vest. Has plenty of pockets for snares, extensions, cable stakes, pliers, etc. I sort out what style snares I need for the area I would be setting, and everything has a place in the vest. Quick and light to get in and get out.  When using baits I just use a 5 gal bucket with one of those inserts for other misc items that hangs over the edge on the outside
