I'm hunting zone 5

limits are 1 antlered and 9 antlerless

I got one of each in early season.

I also purchased buck tags for permit bow and shotgun seasons.

When I look on the harvest reporting section it shows I still have an open buck tag. Is this correct?

If the opportunity presents it's self I want to take another buck, I want to make sure I'm in the clear and won't get busted by the wardens.

I think you're done shooting bucks until permit bow?

I think so as well, this was my first buck and I only started 3 years ago. 1st was a doe during shotgun season, last year was a bust covid kicked my ass, and this year I got my bow license and I'm a doe and a buck in.

gosh this state is confusing.

I can still hunt the doe's though.

yes.  8 more fall bow as long as your in that zone or a zone that allows more than 1 doe.  Can't shoot a doe now in a zone that only allows 1

I'll say upfront - sorry if I'm going to make things sound confusing, but when I first read your message, I immediately thought you were talking about the fall bow buck tag you get with your bow license and thought you called in your buck as antlerless by accident. I know sometimes when I look online and I see "buck tag" in the list, I sometimes have to read it carefully to make sure I'm looking at the right one - "fall bow" or "permit bow" buck tag.

So there is one of two things to explain what you are seeing:

1. The open buck tag you see online is the *permit* season buck tag that you bought which is valid only for permit bow season that starts in November (and the last few days of October, but you get my drift).

or

2. The open buck tag you see is the one that came with your bow license (or all-around) which is for the September/October fall bow season, in which case it means you didn't report your fall bow buck properly, leaving your fall bow buck tag open.

I suspect it is #1 - more than likely you didn't make the mistake of reporting your buck as antlerless. But... you might want to double check in case you are not sure. If you reported your fall bow buck as antlerless, your fall bow buck tag will show open.

But if you are looking online at your *permit* buck tag, then you are good. You don't use that tag until November, but you are tagged out for bucks the rest of October (well, until permit bow season on Oct 28, but you get my drift :))

I reported it correctly as antlered 3 inches or greater. Oh well only antlerless until Nov works for me. goal is 3 deer, 2 down 1  to go... maybe 4 well see

You have a buck but in subsequent season. Read the info

Beat me to it. It’s because of that plus your firearms bucks you’re allowed likely.

Since there are no zones that allow two bucks during fall bow I can only imagine it's some glitch in the system. I have seen this happen myself in the past.

The game laws are clear. One buck for fall bow. This has nothing to do with permit bow.
