I'm asking for a friend filling out application for his first PFID and a pistol permit. It's been so long since I've done mine.

In the application it's asking for to upload a passport 2x2 picture. Does he have to go get that done elsewhere or can ge just take a selfie?? Appreciate the help

He doesn’t “have to” but it will make his life easier to go to a Walgreens or somewhere and have it done. Passport photos have to have a plain background and your head and shoulders need to occupy a certain portion of the photo. Going someplace that has it all setup and will quickly edit for a few bucks is well worth it in my opinion.

You can do a selfie on the phone and upload it from there if you open the application on the phone

I am assuming there is now a photo requirement for new FID cards? Is there a requirement for current FID holders to update.

no, if you have an foid prior to the photo and expiration date requirement and the address matches your drivers license you are grandfathered in.

If you moved and the address doesn't match you aren't able to buy ammo or firearms. You'll have to put in for a change of address and you'll fall under the current foid photo and expiration requirements.

The foid is being fought and I believe is apart of the Koons/Siegel v. Platkin FPC and ANJRPC lawsuit which will be heard Oct 25 in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

How long is the expiration date good for?

10 years from date of issue. A link is provided to print the foid card. If you lose the card you'll have to go through the process to file for a lost foid card. I downloaded mine to the google cloud.

Ok thank you. Was asking to pass on the info. I have my foid card for 30+ years. When I go to change the address it'll be in another state.
