Peeing from Stands and on Scrapes - Evidence

I usually pee on mock scrapes, but not around my stands. This video filmed when one young and then a mid-size 8 traveling together came up out of the woods 15 minutes after I'd shot a doe at dawn suggests that peeing is all around good, at least for the first of the fellers (the second wasn't bothered, I'll put up his close-up video too as he gets an inkling I'm there, but in spite of his efforts can't find me in the stand). All this because I'd gone into my stand early and didn't have a bottle. So, sensing that there were deer out there, right before I shot the doe I used my ladder as a muffling device for my stream. I figured, "Hell, it's my own pee and I'm not gonna scare off all the deer with the pitter patter."

See what this guy does with the still-wet ladder!  I AM also really glad I wore my fresh boots, and not the stinky pair. Rubber boots woulda been better but ongoing, everyday attention to my scent also seems to have been important as well as the fact that I probably didn't grab the ladder till about 9' up

i think it could go either way with really fresh piss because its possible a deer can tell by the smell it is really fresh & go on alert looking for the source or at least focus looking at that general area.  We've all probably had deer right under us like this after pissing many times.  Usually not a problem.  i do recall a windy hunt in a field edge tree stand.  the wind blew my piss all over a small sapling.  I later had a buck downwind stop when he smelled it, he stared in my general direction, eventually spotted me & trotted off.

I've never had one lick the piss, however

Tried pissing in a scrape a couple times and they went cold.  Might have gone cold anyway,IDK.  A buddy pissed in a jug and dumped it in a field on the way out.  On the way in the next morning there was a scrape made there.  I just try to stay as scent free as possible and hunt for the real thing.  Make a little hole with my heel to piss in and cover it over.

I had the same experience pissing in a scrape and having it gone cold. I stopped. But that's why I put this up--made me at least rethink cause/effect

I pee in scrapes all of the time. They always hit get harder within a day . Pee out of the stand just about every sit as well. If deer were alerted by the smell of piss in the woods they would never move from cover ! Every animal in the woods pees daily; they all might small a little different based on diet, but the area is still full of it.
