Stop using digital zoom and pay for some glass.

Hah, I have some glass, no worries...just don't tote it with me on my way to work! :D

I use my Canon to shoot wildlife that I actually want to see. The iPhone is a great point-and-shoot, but nothing replaces a decent SLR. When I get home I'll post two photos I took of a Coopers Hawk. One with an iPhone and the other with the Canon. Although the Canon has a lower resolution, the difference between the two photos is very noticeable with the Canon being the hands-down winner.

Yes, definitely.  MP doesn't necessarily translate to better photo quality.  It's all about the sensor and the glass! :)

I'm a Nikon shooter...awesome...something else we can banter about! haha

I'm not a photographer by any means, but I went to RIT, which has one of the best photography schools in the world. As such, I had a bunch of friends who were photographers, some really good. One who I've kept in touch with since those blissful college days is a photojournalist in NJ. He's won a bunch of awards and as such I trust his opinion on anything photography. In his opinion, both Nikon and Canon are great cameras and glass. The difference is that it's a little less expensive to replace Canon parts. He's telling me this as he shows me his beat up Canon digital SLR.

But since Matt uses Nikon they have to suck. :)

Lots of photographers swear by Cannon and they are a great company as well.  My dad went to school for a while for photography in California and he was a Nikon guy, so that is why I was as well.  The Rolleiflex was his as was the Nikon F I inherited.  I bought the FE myself as well a numerous lenses for my F bodies.
