What's with all the complaining and whining about 6day firearm?I read about it sucked no deer blah blah can't guys just enjoy a day away from work and everyday civic obligations.like serious alot of bashing gojng on the gunhunters some bashing on myself because I chose to take out a doe in private land out of 8 deer I seen guys not seeing deer the gun drivers kill them all.wth is wrong with guys alot got to take off a week to hunt many of us had to work.i would have much been out 6days in the woods then working.the bow guys blame this one or lectures on how this one hunts.thats the problem in this state too much fighting and bickering.i love bowhunting more then alot do but I also enjoy hunting in general I appreciate the bounty of the land whether doe or buck.ive taken 3 deer all season long and I hunt alot 3 counties at that I'm sure I put a dent in the herd or I got chastised by some and Called a underachiever for taking out a doe with a shotgun.who cares imo you know what the problem is YOU have guys in a hurry to wack thay antlerless deer at daybreak in sept to get that target buck to post online and brag what's the difference with that or a late season hunt?none whatsoever you know why not many deer get killed or quality bucks during 6day?because the bow season is too long and bout time 6day rolls around alot of bucks plus does are already dead the ones still alive are so educated and spooked you won't see them til 1am.guys are pointing out the permit gun seasons wtf bow starts in sept to almost Feb how many deer are killed lost during that period?yes it's shocking.guys need to stop pointing the fingers at each other and start looking in the mirror

I'll be honest, I didn't read everything you just wrote because it was a bit hard to understand, (please don't take offense to that)....but I think I got the jist of part of it.

My take on 6-day is this.

I like that people have traditions and it creates camaraderie, and I think it's cool that 6 day get's fathers and sons, brothers, uncles, daughters, moms, etc out in the field together. That's awesome!  I don't mind deer drives, I don't mind yo-buck, I don't mind guys that want to sit next to a road or hunters that never scouted a day and walk around non-stop. None of that really matters. As long as they're having fun and acting safe and responsibly managing the resource.

The thing I take issue with is that in the past it seems to bring out the majority of hunters that "don't care". They don't take the sport seriously, don't know the regulations, don't care about the resource, other hunters, trespassing, etc. They just don't care. That is what bugs me. It isn't just six-day either, it seems to be spreading into the other seasons as well. However, whether it be the sheer number of hunters, or the short buck only season that attracts these "don't care" hunters, the six-day season has always seemed to had the highest percentage of them.

Of course that doesn't apply to everyone that participates in six-day nor to everyone that ONLY participates in it. It's just the bad apples and I'm sure there are a lot more good apples out there, it's just that the bad ones are pretty rotten and spoil the whole week.

As for deer numbers, if they are down as much as it appears, we have to place blame on ourselves. We pull the trigger or release the arrow. The hunting digest and unlimited harvest regulations can't kill deer (maybe if you gave them a really bad papercut and they bled out)....We kill the deer. That goes for every season/weapon like you said.

Congrats on the doe. Looks tasty!

For a guy who does A LOT of complaining you sure are intolerant of other complainers.........just sayin.

This ^^^.... Leave the weekend warriors alone.. Let them have 6 day.. Not everyone lives to be a Daniel Boone.. I cant remember ever hunting during 6 day..   I yield those days to the 6 day types.. they can have it.. before and after is >>MY

What Matty said - I agree that six-day brings out the bad apples.  The thing is, so does all the other seasons except that with six-day, they are all crammed into six days while they can be all spread out over the others.  Equals the same amount of bad apples.  Its the space - time continuum thing.  Given the amount of trucks I saw and shots I heard in Zone 5, it seems that no one was hunting, so I'm not even sure that argument evens holds water any more. Although, I guess the lack of shots could be that, according to some, the last deer in Zone 5 was killed a few months ago ..................

Like Axiom, I have been avoiding 6 day for a few years now. But I just don't hunt with people the way I did for a few years. I'm back to being a complete loner.

I started my hunting years ago just me with a bow... and I didn't pick up a shotgun until some years later. When my years of hunting come to an end, I'm sure I'll be holding a bow....it's just what I enjoy...

However, I will say, I've had many great times and wonderful memories made during 6 day. I think it's a great time to "let your hair down"  and take hunting a little less seriously. Get back to basics. Go take a walk with a shotgun, leave the stand at home, sit on a log or lean up against a tree. Get together with friends, family, do some drives, enjoy a deer camp, bust each others chops, cook up some fresh venison, tell stories around a fire....there's fun to be had. It's all in how you look at it.

If you look at that week as you're only opportunity to shoot some kind of monster buck, you'll probably be stressed out by every orange coat that walks within 200 yards. But if you just take it for what it is....it's fun.
