Question for those that trap.  Do you make sets for coyotes?  If not, why?   My brother used to trap alot here in nj, but now lives in Wisc. He never liked to trap for coyotes. He said the loop had to be too big and he feared catching deer and domestic dogs/ So he made his sets geared for fox and caught tons of those.

Ok,interesting.  I just assumed that they were not targeted. Glad to hear they are.   I have seen an abundance of them. I think it would help to get the word out that the state has a TREMENDOUS amount of FOX and COYOTE and get more people involved in trapping. It seems there are very few that do. It would be especially good to see the younger folks start trapping

earthier of the two you mentioned can be caught in a fox set, like gg said you have to use your head when making any set. a matter of fact last night I had a set for fox  on a small piece of land last night that I didn't think there was any chance of catching a coyote so I used my lighter 5/64 cable just to use it up. well a coyote got into it and this morning all I found was a bunch of chewed up cable that looked like a bomb exploded on it. I knew better but was just trying to use it up, wont happen again, that cable will sit on the shelf, point being was it was in a fox set
