So after Ms. Grit posted about cooking that heart I decided I needed to try it out -- I was successful today in harvesting a deer --1st for the year

What do I do with this heart right now? Do I need to clean it?  Cut it? Just put it in the fridge?

I plan to cook it tuesday -- not sure how but I have a day to figure it out

Help!!!

you could put it in a pot of water for a hour or so to get all the blood out

I washed it in cold water and kinda worked out as much blood as I could -- It's in a bag now in the fridge

Don't be afraid to cook it on the rare side

It'll be rare for sure --  I hate overcooked meat

Right now I'm thinking shrimp and heart kabobs, small canned potatoes, green peppers, onions, small tomatoes

Perfect.  The only thing I do differently is squeeze it gently and then stick my fingers in the ventricles until all of the clotted blood pieces are gone and running water through it runs clear.
