I just wanted to thank everyone that expressed concern and support for my dad. I really appreciate it.

I just got back from visiting him again now, and he seems to be doing well. His spirits are pretty high and the great news was that the worst burns were on the top of his feet up. I feared the soles of his feet would be worst, making walking difficult for some time. Thankfully not the case.

I only saw the physical therapist, but she made the situation sound pretty good. He does have a high fever and he is in a small amount of pain even with the pain killers, but she said that's pretty normal for bad burns. Things should be ok. We were a little worried because he is already not in the best of health, so there was some concern that it may be tough for him to heal, but I think he'll be fine.

He was already making corny jokes again. Pretty typical for our family. Light yourself on fire and make jokes about it, why cry about it when you can laugh right? lol

He said he has a burning desire to heal up and then put his best foot forward. Which currently is his right one. lol He also asked if someone was burning chicken.

Thanks again everyone.

Oh and Dbuck, Walker is my much younger cousin. I've been taking him out for youth day for a few years now. He killed his first deer with a crossbow a couple years ago with the help of Jon55nj and Tdaly25. But he hasn't been able to get out enough to seal the deal on a buck yet. I'm gonna see if we can get him out for Winter bow and change that.

Speedy recovery.

Thank you everyone!!!

I didn't know your Dad had been hurt Matt, but you and your Dad are in our prayers.  Glad to hear that his spirits are up and that he is doing well.

Rusty, thank you. I only mentioned it briefly in yesterdays check-in thread. Long story short, he had a small house fire and ended up with 3rd degree burns on his feet/legs. Needless to say, youth day didn't get to go at all as planned. I was pretty bummed, I had high hopes for Walker to get a buck.

BUT....In the grand scheme of things, this is one of those times to count our blessings. This could have ended far worse. The house only had very minor damage and it sounds like my dad will be just fine with some time to heal. So we were extremely fortunate.

I feel for my dad though, he's been in and out of the hospital quite a bit recently. He recently had a heart attack, then a serious skin infection on his legs from diabetes, and now he gets 3rd degree burns all over his legs and feet. Poor guy can't catch a break. He had literally just come home from a 12 day stay in the hospital for infections the day before. I dropped him off on Friday and on Saturday morning I'm getting phone calls that he's been burned in a house fire. He must be due for a stretch of good luck at this point. (fingers crossed)

It's great to hear that his spirit remains so positive through all of this.

Good News that it's not as bad as initially thought.  Wishing your dad a speedy recovery.
