There is a little story behind this one.. I went out in z23 today for my last day of extended bow hoping to get a buck but that didn't happen. Smoking Gun and I were just out in this spot a couple days ago checking on it as it's in his old stomping grounds in the pines... I got in my stand a little after noon and at 230ish a guy and a kid walked into the woods and my 6 o'clock to hunt youth fire arm I assume. Then I see them climbing into a ladder stand 45 yards behind me which was not there 2 days ago .... neither was the giant pile of bait! WHATEVER it's public land... all is fair.. I use a climber so there is no way of him knowing I was going to be there. I whistle to him, we now know each other are there, I shouldn't be shot mistakenly... I debate on leaving and going to another spot down the road but i stuck it out.. about 4 o'clock he has a doe on his bait... he spooks her and she takes off and is under me.. I pass on it hoping for something big.. At sunset I have a mature doe and a couple others moving in. I tried stopping the doe at about 12 yards quartering towards me but she just got antsy and didn't stop so I shot and the rage did it's job. I waited till it was barely light enough to shoot so this guy and his kid had a chance and I climbed down....

He yells over asking what I shot and said it sounded good blah blah... Then says he needs to go get his truck keys so he can take his 2 man stand down. I told him thats not necessary, I'll move down the road a bit and I'm not a thief.. no worries..He insists on moving it. whatever.. I find my arrow covered in blood and white hair on it... get my stuff load it in the truck and come back while he is taking his stand down.. I offer him help carrying it all and he refuses.. I tell him my light is dying and I have to try and find this deer... he had no interest in helping me.. to each their own.. I called up my neighbor and friend and both drove out to help me out. we tracked the deer about 100 yards. great blood trail most of the way. she was squirting blood out of both sides of her body. It ended up being a double lung shot and caught the liver.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, this is what I'm thankful for. My harvest, the ability to be able to go out and hunt, and for the great friends and hunters out there willing to help another hunter out in need.

The father should have let the boy tag along and help track the deer and see how to field dress it and he should have assisted what a tool bag not good at all.i can't believe he told you this is our firing line wth is that he should have let him shoot the one deer that came in when the kid had the chance who cares about waiting for a buck a deer is a deer to any young hunter and is a learning process hell I still get excited with does

Great way to close out the last day. It's nice to have friends who help one and other out. Congrats to you and the sad part is if that guy was mad he will teach that youth to act the same way which is a shame. Enjoy your harvest!

Congrats on the deer. Might be a spot he's been hunting for years and when he saw you moved in, got mad. Sounds like that's why he took his stuff out.

he hasn't hunted that place in years I used to hunt it I hunted it last year.its public land in Wharton which nobody owns but once he came across someone there already he should have went elsewhere that would be the right thing to do
