Cousin Brown Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Sorry if these are dumb questions . When is the peak time for fox & coyotes to breed in NJ? When do they have there pups? Is the breeding season the same through out the country or does it vary like the deer rut? Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
gobblergetter Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Fox have been' paired up' for the last three weeks or so (my observations) However, I believe the actual 'mateing' only takes place for a short period over a couple of days. The last few females I've caught have already been bred. Eastern Coyotes are hard to tell just when it occurs, because they run in packs thoughout most of the year. And because of the mixture of genes, the estorus cycle of females varies. But the are 'paired up' now also. I haven't caught any female coyotes (worth skinning anyway) lately, But I'm sure some are bred.
