Got these 2 pics this evening . First off this is a Gen 1 Tactacam so I can’t get HD pics . Pic 1 the yote is chasing what I thought is a turkey flying away ( not sure ) . Pic 2 looks like same yote with what I believe is a fawn in his mouth .  I’m going to try to get up there for an afternoon turkey and hope I run into that dog !

Had a doe snorting non-stop in my back woods all morning. I know she is doing that because something killed at least one of her fawns. I went back there twice with the .22. Both times saw her but the situation was in thick briars so never saw the predator. Felt so bad for her - literally heart broken. Was expecting bear, bobcat or yote. Only saw the snorting doe. Few hours later some crows and buzzards were circling the area. I tried to help but it was too late.

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…

It is hard for us human beings to deal with nature’s cruelty. I Am guilty of it as well, doing crazy things to save a life that needed to expire so something else could live. Then I think about us raising animals just so we can kill them and eat them and for a moment I don’t feel so bad about a yote eating a fawn. We are very weird creatures.

I live in a neighborhood in a rural area. Coyotes are all over the place. We have a baseball field and a little bit of wood’s between another neighborhood. We’ve seen many coyotes moving through the last few yrs. Still see plenty of deer but not many turkeys at all. Got to believe the coyotes are killing them off.

Actually I read a very comprehensive study on predation and coyotes do not target turkeys. They kill some but not enough to make any difference in turkey population. The problem comes from foxes and raccoons

Makes sense. I see a lot of red fox also. I’ve seen them walk right past my house with a rabbit in their mouth. I’ve even seen one carrying a chicken in their mouth.  It’s just amazing of how many coyotes I see. I know they cover ground. A few miles away is a big soccer complex. A lot of woods around there.
