A friend who's worked in restoration on Long Islands North Shore that in spite of their massive efforts in a clean and historically important herring stream over the last decade they've basically failed there. I don't know enough to make any claims about what's goin0g on
tuny
I can speak for the Mulica River tributaries, in the nineties and early 2k people pounded the herring runs taking the for stripper bait and for commercial sale. I warned them but nobody listened saying farmers used to take them by the barrel full. Each year the run got smaller and smaller and the pressure kept up so now some of the runs are completely wiped out. JFC1
