Gadwall Emerger

I am not a fly fisherman, but my father uses feathers from ducks I shoot to tie flies. Here's a nice fly he tied from a gadwall. It's been landing some fish.

Photos not working for me but I hunt ducks and will use some of the feathers on my striper/blue fish flies.

If you like 2X2's here's a nice gadwall pattern:

2 XL nymph/streamer hook, size 6-10

Black or grey thread

collar 1 - gadwall flank, wrapped around shank wet-style, over all length should be ~ 1 shank length beyond end of shank

collar 2 - just in front of #1 - orange hen feather wrapped wet-syle around shank and ends at about 1/2 shank
